WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER
Fixing Broken Systems with Courageous Leadership
Fixing Broken Systems with Courageous Leadership
I’ve spent the last 14 years working to understand what it takes for communities to move from incremental to transformational change. In short, it requires partnerships of traditionally disconnected stakeholders who rally around shared results and commit to using data to track progress and, critically, to change their own behavior if the desired results aren’t being achieved. In fact, many of the most promising instances of cross-sector collaboration with transformational results have occurred not because of policy changes but because of the efforts of individual, courageous leaders. In those cases, change was driven by a set of determined local leaders who pushed themselves to use all of their personal agency and recognized that they had the power to change the way they worked, redirect traditional funding streams, and partner and experiment with others in unprecedented ways.
